Facebook looks to Frank Gehry for the design of its new California campus (Wired UK)
Frank Gehry Facebook Facebook has outgrown its campus in Menlo Park, just south of San Francisco, so Mark Zuckerberg hired famed architect Frank Gehry to design "the largest open-plan office in the world" as a spillover building. The new campus will be located just across the highway from the existing Facebook campus, which already houses around 6,000 employees. In a post on the Facebook Menlo Park page, environmental design manager Everett Katigbak claims that the new office will eventually hold 2,300 more employees, and an underground tunnel will link the two campuses together. Posting on his timeline, Zuckerberg said: "The idea is to make the perfect engineering space: one giant room that fits thousands of people, all close enough to collaborate together. It will be the largest open floor plan in the world, but it will also have plenty of private, quiet spaces as well." Wiggly ramps around the edges let people get from basement to ground floor to roof, which holds a park.Read full article from Facebook looks to Frank Gehry for the design of its new California campus (Wired UK)
