She is great at executing but at Yahoo it wasn't about executing an existing strategy, but instead rebuilding the entire vision and strategy of the company. Which is an entirely different skill set. Be a student of history Her first big mistake was to classify Yahoo as a media company. This was the same failed strategy that AOL tried after it's initial business of dial connections began to wane.
