为什么要吃观音土？ - 历史 - 知乎

说来令您震惊，解放前灾区贫民曾食用过的"观音土"今又在市场上"死灰复燃"。近日记者在北京恒通食品（面粉）有限公司质检室见到了专业人员从河北冀县一个小面粉厂辗转买来的一包"观音土"样品。

"观音土"所含成分包括石膏粉或石粉。掺杂在面粉中，可以使面粉增加白度和重量。对于石膏粉，人体食用量过大可造成胃下垂；而人体对于石粉是绝对吸收不了的。
