(34) How do I play audio only on YouTube iOS app? - Quora

YouTube iOS app will not let you to do this, but there are ways by which you can listen only audio. Follow these simple steps for listening to YouTube videos while still being able to lock your iPhone screen.

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone.
  2. Go to YouTube and search for the video that you want to listen to. Or if you're logged in, you can access videos from your subscriptions or playlists that you've created.
  3. Tap on the video to begin playing it.
  4. Press down on the Power button to lock your iPhone and turn off the screen. The video will automatically pause just like it does in the YouTube app.
  5. Press down on the Power button again and press the Play button to resume the video (or audio, in this case).
  6. You can now lock your iPhone and the audio will continue to play.
