Google said it will expand its Launchpad program to help startups in India, Brazil and Indonesia get rolling.
In a blog post, Google said it is expanding its Launchpad program, which helps developers design and develop apps, to include Launchpad Accelerator.
Launchpad Accelerator provides six months of support and training to startups in India, Brazil and Indonesia to build apps and businesses.
For Google, emerging markets are critical to the future of Android. Growth in tablets and smartphones has slowed and Android battles Apple's iOS abroad. In addition, Google's startup support effort is well timed given emerging market economies are struggling.
