 不过Mary Kate没有想到的是,她的奢华生活将在2006年二人离婚后告终,由于Williamson的父母在二人离婚时明确表示,将断绝给儿子的经济供应,每年只给2.6万美元零花,法官认定Williamson一年只有6万美元的工作收入,外加1.3万美元的信托收益,合计9.9万美元年收入,因此判决其向Mary Kate支付每月2000美元的赡养费,这无疑与后者所期望的数值大相径庭——她之前希望每月至少能收到28782美元赡养费。

 Mary Kate为此提起上诉,但上诉法庭认为,Williamson父母给予儿子的资金并非基于任何义务,应属于礼物或贷款性质,而非他的正常收入,如果将这些赠与视为Williamson个人的收入而计算赡养费,由于其父母已经停止了供给,Williamson明显将无力承担这笔赡养费,再说父母也没有义务承担儿子的离婚赡养费,因此初审法院关于每月2000美元赡养费的裁决是合理的。
