- People who have Chromebooks can now do a whole lot more without reaching for their phones. In particular, touchscreen Chromebooks like this Chromebook Flip will become more desirable. Not that Chromebooks until this point were all that bad — it's just that they were lacking in functionality.
- At least initially, life with Android on Chrome OS could be a little confusing. When you open up the app launcher and look at all your apps, you may see two similar ones for the same service — obviously, they are implementations for different mobile platforms and they may have different functionality.
- App developers will see their Android apps used in more scenarios, and engagement could increase — to the detriment, potentially, of certain web apps.
- If Android usage on Chrome OS takes off, you could see Apple start to take steps to bring more iOS functionality to the macOS. Siri on the Mac, announced earlier this week is one step in that direction, but there's lots more that the company could do.
In short, you've got to try it for yourself. It's so fun and surprising that it feels like a hack — but it's actually exactly what Google wants.
