由于手握一笔20万美元的专项资金，Linux基金会启动了几个项目，促进R这门数学和统计语言的发展。

Linux基金会支持的R联盟（R Consortium）是为了支持以数学和统计为中心的R语言而设立的，该组织很快就会把资金落到实处。

该联盟在大力支持几个新项目，这些项目旨在促进这门语言、实施以及围绕它的开发文化。除了为R定义标准和实践后，这还包括资助该联盟认为将促进社区发展的与R有关的项目。
